Posts Tagged ‘ Eight Hours ’

I have been working for Internet companies since 1994. First at America Online and now in my own marketing and design business. The only online marketing rule I adhere to is that things are constantly changing. That could make marketing difficult. To keep moving forward, I use the following five principles:

1. Ask the right questions

Unless you ask the right marketing questions, you will waste a lot of your valuable time on things that don’t matter. Abraham Lincoln was quoted as saying, “If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend six hours sharpening my ax.” Gather the people you trust to work on business problems and ask them to make a list of the three main problems your customers have identified for you. Then analyze those problems to see what marketing questions you should be asking. Instead of asking how to increase revenue, perhaps you should be asking how to make it easier for your customers to check out using your shopping cart. Continue to drill down and simplify until you have a list of very specific questions and set about to answer those.

2. ‘Think Big; Act Small’

This principle captures what I think is imperative for anyone marketing online today. Jason Jennings’ book ‘Think Big Act Small’ details how companies succeed by maintaining a small business attitude. Embrace the qualities that ‘smallness’ provides- quick improvements, employees that are close to the problem and the ability to connect with your customers. I’ve worked with companies that assume their competitors are better because they have deeper pockets. The notion that more marketing dollars ensure success is misguided at best. Look at your product or service and continue to improve it. Online buyers want quality and service. That part never changes.

3. Search for what’s different and strive to understand it

The popularity of online marketing tactics go up and down like the stock market. Pop-ups, podcasts, ezines and blogs are all effective if applied to the right audience at the right time. The key is to continually ask yourself, “what’s different today?” Are customers suddenly responding to something you don’t highlight? Are they bored with your current promotion? Read everything you can about new ideas and cultural trends. You don’t have to try to apply every one of them, but you do need to know what your customer knows. Keying into changes on a weekly basis ensures that you won’t suddenly find yourself with an outdated marketing strategy and no customers.

4. If you’re not the customer, ask her!

Don’t spend your time debating with other staffers about what you ‘think’ your customer wants. Unless you ARE the target customer, you don’t really know. I have listened to endless debates about customer needs based on no actual customer data. Ask your customers. They will be happy to tell you what they think. If you don’t want to hear what they think, you’ve got a different problem.

5. Do what’s difficult

I find that this principle separates the wannabes from the real innovators. If you know what tactics need to be applied to make a difference, but you are too lazy or disinterested to try them then stop reading now. Nothing you do will make a difference until you tackle the hard work necessary to grow. If you need a better designed website, a new database or an easier shopping cart, you need to do that, NOW.

Sleep disorders are unfortunately an everyday part of the life for millions of Americans, resulting in billions of dollars in economic loss each year. The range of sleep disorders, however, is very broad and if some people simply have nightmare and occasional disturbed sleep, others suffer from chronic insomnia and lack of proper sleep for weeks, months and even years. And if left untreated, these problems may affect the entire life of a person, resulting in serious health conditions and the inability to perform everyday tasks normally.

Having a good rest and healthy sleep is a natural necessity of the body for being refreshed and restored from stress and activity of the previous day. It is estimated that an average adult requires about 8 hours of sleep every day in order to feel perfectly refreshed from both the psychological and physiological perspectives. Of course, most of people these days believe that eight hours of sleep is a luxury they can’t afford, depriving themselves from the needed sleep in order to enjoy different activities (work, socializing, etc.) The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke reports that more than 40 million Americans experience different types of sleep disorders every year, a large part of which is not even diagnosed and left untreated. Many people will either leave the condition as it is, hoping it won’t develop into a chronic one, while others will use over-the-counter pills or order such prescription sleeping aids as Ambien online without their doctor’s consent.

Types of sleep disorders

Before you go to your doctor to request Ambien prescription or any other treatment, try to define the actual sleep disorder you have. It is important for defining the right treatment option and will make it easier for you personally to be calm about your situation. Here are some of the most common sleep disorders millions of Americans suffer each year:

Sleep apnea: this disorder is characterized by shallow or interrupted breathing during sleep that causes for the person to wake up regularly. Known to many as heavy snoring, this is in fact a serious health problem that can result in a stroke. If you happen to experience sleep apnea, don’t hesitate to consult with your doctor concerning a treatment, because the problem can have more serious consequences.

Disturbed sleep: in this case the sleep is interrupted during the night either by the problems in the windpipe (apnea) or neurological problems that make it hard for the muscles to relax. It is quite common in older people, who find it harder to fall asleep and wake up regularly during the night.

Insomnia: this is the inability to sleep or even fall asleep. Some people with insomnia manage to fall asleep but wake up too early without getting enough rest and can’t manage to sleep again. Others can fall asleep at all. This is a serious condition that results in loss of concentration, irritability, drowsiness and more serious health problems. Drugs like Ambien are usually effective in such cases. However, before you buy Ambien or any other sleeping aid, consult with your doctor.

Narcolepsy: is the opposite of insomnia as it’s characterized by having trouble with staying awake. A person suffering from narcolepsy can fall asleep any time of the day without even realizing that he or she is sleeping.

A blood glucose meter is the one tool that a diabetes patient has to really see if they are blood glucose level is ideal. The normal range before meals should be between 80 to 120. If you use it two hours after a meal your levels should be between 80 and 140, which is the same levels it should be just before bed too.

They are not going to be eating for about eight hours during their sleep so the blood glucose should be at the right levels before they fall asleep. If you are on insulin you should be testing your blood sugar about three times a day. Each person has different test times, it is usually before meals and just before bed.

When you test more frequently you will be able to get a better idea of your blood sugar levels throughout the day. The new blood glucose meters now take smaller amounts of blood than the older meters used to.

What that means for you is that you can prick yourself a little less hard, in order to get the blood you need to carry out the test.

The actual process is very simple and it is dead easy to do. You need a blood glucose meter, test strips and a thumb prick pen. Take your test strip and place it face up inside your meter. The first thing you will see is a check number, then the meter will tell you to put a drop of blood on the strip.

Place the meter down flat on the table and then use the prick pen to get a small drop of blood. Put the drop of blood on the designated area on the test strip. It takes about ten seconds to get your reading. That is all there is when it comes to using this meter to monitor your sugar levels.

It is very important that you try to control your diabetes early. It makes it easier to control it in the long term.

Keeping an eye on your glucose levels will affect your treatment. If your sugar levels stay low you can reduce the chances of other complications that are associated with diabetes.
