Unmanaged dedicated servers (also known as self-managed dedicated servers) are servers which do not include post-install server configurations, patching, updates and all other related server management features… but is that a good or bad thing? I will describe the pros and cons of both and demonstrate why I think Dedicated Servers (unmanaged) is the way to go.

In general, the majority of dedicated server providers offer self-managed servers along with options to choose a management plan in which you obtain certain server related tasks to be done by their IT professionals.

Nowadays, due to fierce competition in this industry, providers do offer server management related work included in all dedicated server packages we offer. This is also due to the fact that many customers need initial help with some server configurations and do not want to purchase a full server management package, therefore they offer that service as an incentive to keep the customers loyal to their services and most importantly so they can be 100% satisfied with their server.

Let’s face it, it takes a lot of effort, money and perseverance to gain long term dedicated server customers and there is nothing more frustrating for a customer to get a reply on a ticket they opened that describes the different management package or “per hour” based billing they can get to help them with their issues. That creates frustrated customers who will not give good word of mouth on your services, most probably they will start to look elsewhere and in the end, they will probably not pay for management services anyway and just try to do it themselves.

So why all this headache? Companies prefer helping customers with their server and gain on customer loyalty and referrals. When customers are happy, it makes the provider even happier and the benefits of happy customers are tremendous. It is both in the customer’s and the provider’s interest to help with server management related tasks free of charge.

In my experience, most customers usually need help in the beginning of their online adventure, they need to configure and install software on their server, get it up and running and then simply maintain the server with basic software upgrades and security patching (which is fairly easy to do). All of which is part of the initial help. So why the need for a “managed server”? The costs involved in “server management” do not justify the service it provides.

General tasks (which you pay for on a managed server) such as the following ones are very easily done on a server. A simple Google search will provide you with great tutorials to execute them:

OS Updates and PatchingSoftware FirewallBasic Security AuditsLog Files Monitoring

Next thing I wanted to talk about is control. Customers usually feel they have much less control over their server when in a managed environment, as the provider can login at any time to perform server related tasks which you will not necessarily be aware of… and this is when things can start to go crazy with services not coming up anymore, corrupted software or even have your whole server not boot anymore. Unmanaged dedicated servers provide you with total control over your server.

Disadvantages of a managed server:

Higher priced serversLess control over your server and configurationsYou might not have full admin/root login privileges to your serverYou don’t really get extra server management features as other providers, like Gogax, do offer basic server management as part of every package in order to help customers get started with their server

All this to say that unmanaged servers give you the best bang for your buck and you still get the support you deserve along with complete control on your server and services.

Gogax offers many great Dedicated Servers bundled with great support from our experienced IT staff.

Marketing on the internet without an online marketing coach is like sitting in a classroom without a teacher. Tell me, if an exam is drawn, would you pass? Even if you succeeded, it wouldn’t be an easy one unless you are a genius. You see, the internet is a place where your success is based on using workable marketing methods. How do you know those methods and their usage if you are not shown by somebody who has used them? Luckily for me, when I started my online marketing home based business I was taken through all details of my business by a coach. Guess what, I’ll not be selfish, what she (coach) showed me I’ll show you.

Truth is, for a ‘newbie,’ having your own coach will save you the headache of trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Because your coach will expose you to marketing secrets the gurus are using to bag huge money every month. So you see, the cycle of trials and errors, many un-coached marketers go through, will not be your portion. Then your business gets the acceleration it would have lacked if you did not have a coach.

Since you’ll have to order different online marketing services to put into your business. You as a beginner to internet marketing, may not be in position to know which are the good ones. But with a good online marketing coach, you’ll be guided to make the right choices. So you’ll erase the risk of ordering a scrappy service and in the process you save money. That money could be used on other activities that will help accelerate the pace of your business growth.

I’ll not hide to tell you that there are so many flashy and unreliable coaches out there. So you need to be told what to look for in a good coach. Here are my guides:

1. A good coach must be a successful online. He/she must be consistent in his/her income earning. My mentor earns not less than $50,000 every month. Which shows her method of marketing is not a flash in the pan type, but a consistent one. So make sure He/she possesses this quality otherwise don’t HIRE that person as your coach.

2. He/she must have been at the beginning of several personal businesses. He/she must have grown them to the point of success. Otherwise don’t waste your time and money to HIRE him/her. Why? She cannot help you build your personal business if she has not done so for someone else before.

3. A mentor must have a series of exercises designed to identify your(client) goals and the steps required to inspire you to reach them. Otherwise that coach is not a good one don’t waste more time and money on his/her services.

Remember, what you’ll achieve in two years working alone, you’ll achieve in one year working with a good coach.

Forex trading has been made more easy with the availability of forex indicators. However, with the wide range of indicators provided by your trading platform, it is very hard for you to decide which one to use. In fact, there are a total of 99 different forex indicators currently available and this actually gives me headache when I first started forex trading.

In general, forex indicators are divided into two main types – Leading and Lagging. Leading types are those that allows the traders to predict the price movement and these group of forex indicators can help the traders to place their stop loss more effectively. Lagging types are those that can only show the traders the historical trend and movement of the price and these group of indicators are usually use by the trader to indicate the current trend.

Below are some examples of these forex indicators that I usually use

Leading Type

1) Pivot Point
2) Fibonacci Retracement and Extension

Lagging Type

1) Moving Averages
2) Stochastics
3) MACD
4) RSI

In order to boost your trading accuracy, you got to use a combination leading and lagging forex indicators to help you enter and exit your trades more effectively. Personally, I use moving averages and stochastics to help me to identify the current trend of the market so that I can ride the trend to profit and I use pivot point and Fibonacci to help me plan my limit for my trades. They have been a great help for me as it allows me to have a systematic trading plan.

Therefore it is very important for you to choose the forex indicators that can work well with your trading plan so that you can profit from it. Lastly, you need to remember this: Always plan your trades and trade your plan.

The Ideal Sharpener for A Cook on the Go

A common problem with cooking and preparing foods is just not having a sharp enough knife.  Then there’s the headache of having to sort through all of the different varieties and types of sharpeners offered: Electric, Manuel, Straight Edge, Serrated, length of time to sharpen, material used to sharpen, brands, prices, etc.  I honestly found it easiest to search quickly from customer review sites.

Amazon is usually the perfect place to start looking and I found a gem that was incomparable on all levels with any of the leading brands and models.  Typical knife sharpeners take from a minute to 30 minutes when placed in a machine.  Some electric sharpeners put your knives through a 3 step process which the knife must be set into place and left there.

Other models have to be held into place and firmly held down or else the knife won’t sharpen properly which is dangerous to do because the knife could come out and cut you.  A model that doesn’t need to be held down or one that doesn’t take a long time to sharpen is preferred.

Length of Time Sharpening

When comparing the models the Accusharp Knife Sharpener really just blew away the competition.  It takes only seconds to sharpen, about 2 swipes with gentle pressure and you’re done.  It’s manual and small so can be taken everywhere.  The sharpening blades are made of tungsten carbide which is twice as hard as steel and 4 times harder than titanium.  This metal will really hone your knife for you.

If you’re like me, having a toaster sized knife sharpener on my kitchen counter just doesn’t cut it for me, and especially having to wait 30 minutes for my knife to sharpen doesn’t work for me so the AccuSharp Knife Sharpener really comes in handy.

What’s great as well is that this will sharpen both straight edge knives and serrated edged knives giving you an added flexibility of the product.

Longevity of the Sharpener

The AccuSharp Knife Sharpener, from customer feedback lasts from 5-10 years of use.  What’s also great is that the replacement blades are only and the current blades can be flipped around to double the longevity.

Price Comparison

To nip everything in the bud, the knife sharpener costs less than 10 dollars.  Most knife sharpeners range from -0+.  The next closest comparable handheld portable knife sharpener, the Furi Ozitech Diamond Fingers Knife Sharpener runs at or twice as much.

Conclusion

The Accusharp Knife Sharpener has my recommendation.  This product is really outstanding it it’s field with over 500 customer reviews and an average of 4.5 stars from Amazon.  This knife sharpener has also been on Amazon’s top 100 products for over 2 years.  That’s got to say something.
