Q: Sonu: Good Evening Ma’am. Due to some reason, I had completed my B. Tech in five years instead of four years. Please tell me if I am eligible for NMAT 2012? What do NMIMS mean by completing degree in first attempt?

A: By first attempt NMIMS can consider successful students from NMAT only if they have cleared the final examination in first attempt. If your course is only for four years and you have completed it in five years, with a break in middle, you may have to explain the break and send us an email to the admission department with all details for clarifying your doubts.

Q: Aditi: I want to appear for NMAT 2012. I want to know whether there are any education loan schemes available on the campus. Are there any education loan schemes available on the campus?

Education loans are available through Banks for NMIMS students. You will have to avail education loans from any of the Banks – e.g. Dena Bank. NMIMS does not offer any educational loan.

Q: Aditi: Does NMIMS offer any scholarship facility for bright students from poor background?

A: Yes. NMIMS has scholarship facility for bright students from poor background. For details you can send your request to nmims@nmims.edu or to the admission id already given in the NMAT brochure.

Q: Upasna Nanada: Is there any sectional cut off in NMAT? Does it have GK questions? Another question, do people from Maharashtra domicile have some sort of reservation? I’m from Raipur.

A: Yes. There is sectional cut off in NMAT. It only has the sections clearly mentioned in the NMAT brochure. There are no questions on GK, if you are referring to general knowledge questions. NMAT is a national level admission test and there are no reservations on the basis of region/Maharashtra region.

Q: Minita: My academic background is, 52% in graduation from Calcutta University. If I perform well in NMAT 2012, will my poor academic record affect me in getting a GD/PI call?

A: As per NMAT requirements, you are eligible to appear for the admission test. We do take into consideration the past academic performance. But I don’t think you should worry about it now. Concentrate on preparing for the NMAT admission test. All the best!

Q: Minita: How much weightage does work experience have? I have 17 months of experience.

A: There are marks allotted for work experience based on duration, value addition etc. We have a balanced scoring pattern considering NMAT performance, work experience and academic track record.

Q: Chirag Dudani: Ma’am what is the actual figure of Reservation Quota as I just finished my B.Tech and I want to do MBA in marketing from NMIMS. Is there a management seat criteria in case if I am not getting good score?

Prof. Bala Krishnamoorthy: There is no reservation, in terms of management for MBA Programs at NMIMS. MBA Core program has concentration in marketing subjects.

Q: Ashlesha Kelkar: How many times can a candidate take NMAT and any break period between two attempts? If a candidate takes NMAT 2012 more than once, which of the scores out of these attempts will be valid score?

Prof. Bala Krishnamoorthy: NMAT 2012 allows candidates to have three attempts. The best score of the three will be considered. The candidate can schedule the test as per his or her convenience.
